Gender Reveals. Man do I LOVE gender reveals. Am I the only person who gets insane butterflies watching someone else about to find out what they're having?! I feel like I'M the one finding out for myself. It's such a exciting rush to anticipate the big reveal! The parents-to-be's reactions are always so priceless. In the moment, you see them for their genuine, true self. It's truly a beautiful moment to witness, even if you aren't there to see it happening in real time. Of course we have those hilarious reactions of the mom's or dad's having a disappointed reaction if the gender of their choice doesn't come to be. Those sometimes tend to be my favorite. At the end of the day, you know they will love that little boy or girl with all their heart.
Let's talk about that gender of choice for a second. Yes, WE ALL WANT A HAPPY AND HEALTHY BABY!!!!! I mean, can we just stop saying that and know that's what we all can hope and wish for!! OF COURSE!! Anyway, what I'm trying to say here...IT IS TOTALLY OKAY TO HAVE A PREFERENCE. It does not make you a bad person if you prefer a boy or girl first OR the same sex the second time. With my reveal coming up this weekend I have had sooooo many people assume that I want a girl because I already have my son. Many are surprised to find out that I want a boy even WORSE than I did the first time!! True story!! "But why?! Don't you want a mini you?!" Well...no LOL! " But you're so girly!! How can you not wish for a girl?!" BECAUSE DAMMIT I WANT ANOTHER BOY! WHY IS THIS SO BAD!! Haha!! For me, I LOVE my son...I would love another little version of him again. I find the brother, brother bond to be so adorable and extremely strong. And if I am being completely honest guys....I'm literally going to say the thing YOUR NOT suppose to say (and if you know me personally, you know I always say what you're not suppose to say) I don't want another girl to steal my husband's heart. Yep. That's right. I said it. I want to be the only girl in the house. I want to be the Queen and the princess. I want my boys to spoil me with love because I do love how boys are with their mommies. Once this little girl comes into the world, ITS OVER for me!! LOL! So yes I WANT MY SECOND BOY and NO I will not be trying for a girl if I get another boy to answer THAT question.
And guys with all that being said, If I do get a girl I know I will be incredibly happy once she's here. I'll say it again, IT'S OK for me to have a preference. Whatever kind of child I'm brewing in here has my heart forever.
For my first reveal, my mother threw me the cutest party at my house. We had our closest friends and family join us for a Bee themed occasion (" He Or She What Will You Bee"). We had an awesome cake (as shown above and link will be below) and gave away jars of honey for favors (yep we even did favors). For the actual reveal we did fireworks which was a fail (LOL) as some people claimed they saw a different color then what actually went off. Thankfully we did run over to our back up which was classic balloon pop. We found out then our beautiful little boy was on the way!! Seriously one of my best memories. I really felt the love surround us when we found out. It was a really special moment. ( TIP: DO NOT do a confetti balloon pop in grass... two years later and there's STILL confetti in my dirt).
Now, a lot of people wonder if you're suppose to bring a gift to a gender reveal. The answer is no. It is NOT expected at all. But be aware people WILL bring gifts. So expect to most likely see people showing up with small gifts. So your next question would probably be what the heck do you bring as a gift?! Here are a few ideas:
-A small pack of diapers. SERIOUSLY... you CANNOT go wrong with this
- Gender neutral baby outfit
- White converse baby sneakers (so cute!!)
- Baby Moccasins
- Gift card (small amount)
- Plain white newborn or 0-3 onesies
- Burp clothes and swaddles
-Cute maternity robe or post partum robe
- Small gift for mommy (for nail appointment or blow dry)
- Gift card to restaurants so mommy and daddy can do date night before baby!
I will link below my favorite baby moccasin brands for you guys as well as the burp clothes, swaddles, and robes .
If you are going back and forth about throwing a gender reveal, PLEASE do it. It will be a memory that you will hold onto forever. If you're one of those people who think they are silly or ridiculous, then have a seat negative Nancy. It's okay to want to have another celebration for a miracle. Before you are quick to judge those who do have them, maybe consider the fact that perhaps they had a hard time conceiving. Perhaps they had suffered a miscarriage. Or maybe they are just excited to have a freaking baby!! You don't know anyone's story or reasoning, so please let the parents savor every single moment and celebration. I've seen so many articles that this trend is "tacky" and how " no one really cares". Listen, if you feel this way about gender reveals the answer is quite simple. Just don't go! Are you the one paying for the reveal?! No. And no one is asking you to spare your precious time away from doing something else. You'll save them a couple bucks on the extra food and your negative vibes, seriously. Just do yourself and the couple a favor and just don't attend. Everyone will be happier that way. Expectant mommy's to be, ENJOY EVERY SECOND!
So because this is a fashion blog as well, I have to talk about what I wore to my first gender reveal. It was the end of September and it was quite chilly. I went with this simple, light pink, ribbed, midi dress from Posh LA. It was simple, comfortable, and could be worn again. This is another easy simple dress that can be dressed up with heels or down with flats. It could also be worn well into the colder months for a cute night out. Since this dress is from last year I will link some other options below for you guys.
Don't forget to check the links below!! ALSO, if you guys are kind of stumped on where to get reveal items from
Poof There It Is! (click it) has awesome reveal options with super fast shipping! You can even have your OBGYN email them with the gender so NO ONE knows!
